HP Improves Customer Experience for PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company

HP today announced that Seattle-based PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company has upgraded its customer communication management solution to HP Exstream to improve the customer experience it offers through personalized policies, invoices, renewal letters and privacy notices.

HP Exstream enables PEMCO to more quickly communicate new insurance offerings and easily scale to meet the requirements of its growing customer base.

In addition to support for multiple customer communications channels such as web, text and email, PEMCO will use HP Exstream to provide consistent branding, reduce print and postage costs, and decrease its environmental footprint. Due to the low total cost of ownership for HP Exstream, PEMCO is aiming to achieve 100 percent return on investment within 24 months.

Third Party Printer Discovery in HP Web Jetadmin

HP Web Jetadmin has the ability to discover non-HP printers connected to the network via non-HP print server devices. By supporting third party printers, HP offers a network printer management solution that drives an additional step further toward the “one-stop-shopping” concept that LAN administrators desire. LAN administrators will now be able to discover and manage printers offered by all major printer vendors from a single software interface.

Discovery

During discovery of devices, HP Web Jetadmin uses SNMP queries to gather information from the printer and print server device. If HP Web Jetadmin concludes that the device is a peripheral such as a printer, plotter, multi-function device, etc., it will display it in the list of discovered devices. In order for HP Web Jetadmin to conclude that a device is a peripheral, the device must be able to answer a set of basic questions.

A MIB (Management Information Base) is a set of objects that defines the types of SNMP queries that can be asked of a device. For example, the Standard Printer MIB (RFC 1759) is a generic set of objects to which most peripherals should be able to provide answers when queried. The Standard Printer MIB consists of objects that describe functionality and capabilities of the printer such as page counts, media types, etc. Other common MIBs include MIB-II (RFC 1213) and the Host Resources MIB (RFC 1514).

Jan 06, 2012 Perfect Colours, a London-based value added reseller of large format digital printing solutions, has supplied and installed a HP DesignJet L25500 printer at Fast Signs Gloucester’s premises.   The new printer will enable Fast Signs Gloucester to improve its productivity and expand its solutions into the ‘green’ product arena.

Fast Signs Gloucester designs, prints and installs bespoke signage solutions including vehicle wraps, exhibition displays, outdoor banners, site and traffic signs and corporate logo signage.  The company needed to upgrade to a new printer that could handle increased workload without compromising the quality of output.

HP and Microsoft Deliver Global Communications and Collaboration Solutions via the Cloud

HP Enterprise Services and Microsoft Corp. today announced a global, four-year initiative to deliver Microsoft’s leading communications and collaboration applications via global private and public cloud services.

Under the agreement, HP and Microsoft will offer private and public cloud solutions designed to help organizations rapidly scale new users, shift IT resources from maintenance to innovation and change IT from a capital to operating expense. The solutions include:

  • Private cloud: HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Messaging, HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Collaboration and HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Real-Time Collaboration deliver Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft Lync Server 2010 productivity applications as a service from HP data centers around the world.

HP Achieves Position as a Leader in Annual Magic Quadrant Report for MFPs and Printers

HP today announced it has been named a “leader” in the latest Gartner “Magic Quadrant Report for MFPs and Printers, Worldwide.”(1)

An independent provider of IT and research advice, Gartner has published its latest Magic Quadrant report for MFPs (multifunction printers) and printers worldwide, which assessed technology providers on their “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”

According to Gartner’s report, “traditional speeds and feeds for typical office printing, such as output quality (for example, dots per inch and engine speed), have given way to the hardware’s ability to integrate and deploy software applications that connect them to company’s document management systems. Remote monitoring capabilities, diagnostics, security, cloud printing and other factors are becoming the true differentiators.”

HP and Hyland Software Automate Document Processes for Grove City College

P today announced Grove City College, a four-year liberal arts school in Pennsylvania, is using HP and Hyland Software Document Capture and Workflow Solutions to streamline business processes associated with student recruitment, financial aid verification, the registrar’s office and alumni development.

Grove City College has been a long-standing HP customer and is now implementing additional solutions campus-wide, including enterprise content management (ECM) strategy offerings that use HP and Hyland Software solutions.
